What we offer

We offer investment packages, starting at £50,000, to third sector organisations that want to improve public services in England.

There is no such thing as a standard Futurebuilders investment. A loan will always be part of any investment but they are often combined with grants and professional support to help build the capacity of organisations preparing to contract with public sector bodies. Every package is tailored to the needs of the organisation and no two investments are the same.

Loans

Loan funding is new to most third sector organisations. It isn’t right for everyone but can have real advantages. While it can take years to raise grant funds for a project, a loan can be much quicker and easier to secure. Our loans are offered at a 6% fixed interest rate and we never ask trustees or senior management to provide personal guarantees. We expect loans to be repaid through income or fees from public sector bodies, such as primary care trusts or local authorities.

The Tender Fund

The Tender Fund is a new Futurebuilders programme offering interest-free three year loans of between £3,000 and £50,000 to third sector organisations who need relatively small sums of money to help them tender successfully for specific public service delivery contracts.

Grants and support

Futurebuilders does not offer stand-alone grant funding. However, we often include grants and professional consultancy support within an overall investment package.

Grants are often used to provide support while the new project is being set up, or to strengthen the organisation’s capacity which will contribute to the success of the project. They sometimes meet initial costs that cannot be included in the contract or fee price.

Every applicant and investee also receives support from a in-house Investment Officer, who will often work with a Futurebuilders Business Consultant to provide specific advice depending on the project.
