Charity aims to assist half of UK’s traumatically bereaved after Futurebuilders investment   Back to news

Tuesday, 28 October 2008

Cruse Bereavement Care, the UK’s leading charity dealing with bereavement support, aims to help over half of all of the country’s traumatic bereavement victims after a £460,000 investment from Futurebuilders England.

Cruse provides support to bereaved people, particularly those dealing with a traumatic loss, through a nationwide network of branches, trained volunteers and a national helpline. The charity has 139 local services across the country with over 5,400 volunteers and last year provided long-term care to over 22,000 people in England.

Currently Cruse assists 35% who have suffered bereavement as a result of a road death; 35% as a result of homicide, and 40% of people bereaved after a suicide, in addition to providing services for all bereavements. After the Futurebuilders investment, the group hopes these figures will rise above the 50% mark.
