Caryl Agard - Chief Executive of Social Business Company and Chair of the BME Compact Working Group
Caryl is the Chief Executive of The Social Business Company, a new social business, which through its activities will generate an endowment fund to support local community activity, in particular community enterprises. The company will initially focus its grants programme in the north of England with a view to expanding its activities across all of the English regions.
Caryl was previously the Chief Executive of Progress Trust, which is a Manchester based regeneration partnership and development agency. The Trust’s Single Regeneration Budget programme was one of the first thematic regeneration initiatives, which focused on engaging black and ethnic minority communities in the design and delivery of regeneration programmes in Manchester.
Caryl is a member of the national Compact working group and is Chair of the Black and Minority Ethnic sub group for the Compact. He was also a panel member of the Ethnic Minority Advisory group to the National Employment Panel and a member of the Active Community Unit Inter-department Working Group on Capacity Building. He was also a member of the Treasury Cross Cutting review on the role of the voluntary and community sector in public service delivery.
Caryl is a member of the Futurebuilders’ Audit Committee.
