Biography: Marion Kerr
Marion leads the Department’s efforts on commissioning and market management across children’s services as well as the Department’s Third Sector interests.
Marion joined DfES from the Government Office for London where she headed a cross-cutting strategic unit, doing business on behalf of several government departments and supporting the Minister for London. Areas she dealt with included neighbourhood renewal, community cohesion and the involvement of the voluntary and community sector. Marion was also a member of the London Health Commission and chaired its forum on children and young people.
Prior to joining GOL, she worked in what is now DCLG on various aspects of housing policy and local government policy, including public-private partnerships in social housing. Before joining the Civil Service, Marion worked in social policy research at the University of Cambridge and the University of York.
