Waveney Crossroads
Waveney Crossroads is the main provider of respite care for carers in the Waveney district of Suffolk. It offers traditional ‘in the home’ care services and day services from two centres in Lowestoft. Waveney recently secured a new building to increase the number of days it can offer to adults, and introduce new family support services including a weekend club for children with disabilities and a carers group.
The £157,500 Futurebuilders investment is supporting Waveney expand its provision through a £97,500 loan to refurbish and equip the new centre and a £60,000 revenue grant to fund the establishment of a new Development Manager for two years to identify and diversify new income streams. The centre will support up to 60 people and their carers and families each week in its first year, with services purchased by Suffolk County Council, Suffolk Carers and the Alzheimers Society.
